Leading with Purpose: University Strategic Plan Draft
Over the 2022-23 academic year, the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø community engaged in a planning process to develop a new institutional strategic plan for 2023 and beyond. The strategic plan will articulate the collective ambition of the university, summarizing priorities and broad actions while still allowing the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø the flexibility to adapt and respond to significant emerging opportunities.
The 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø’s strategic planning consultation process included key informant interviews with U of A community members, external stakeholders, community and industry, U of A staff and student roundtable sessions, student and staff surveys, U of A Board of Governors, General Faculties Council, Senior Leadership retreats and a joint GFC-Senate-Board of Governors session.
In February, a What We Heard report was published. An updated version of the report was published in March, reflecting feedback obtained from the U of A community, adding nuance and featuring increased emphasis on key areas highlighted during the feedback sessions.
Building on the What We Heard report, the Steering Committee released a draft of the next University Strategic Plan. This was not a final document – it was presented for feedback from our community.
The Steering Committee began reviewing feedback in early May, and presented a revised version for endorsement by GFC on May 29, 2023 and the Board of Governors on June 17. The final plan will be presented in September 2023.
