On February 22, we were honoured to have His Excellency David L. Cohen, US Ambassador to Canada, and Mrs. Holly Waeger Monster visit the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology.

Dr. Tyrrell shared some facts about the global impact of various viruses, like Hep B and C, and some breakthrough research being conducted at the U of A.

His Excellency is shown the Nobel Prize Medal won by our own Dr. Michael Houghton, Dr. Harvey Alter (NIH) and Dr. Charles Rice (Rockefeller University) in 2020 for the discovery of the Hep C virus.
